Farm House

This is the exterior of the house that has the spooky kitchen.

Spooky Kitchen

Kitchen design based off of a Steinbeck short story in Pastures of Heaven. An abandoned farm house, said to be haunted, was inhabited by squatting Norwegian immigrants. They mysteriously disappear, leaving the food on the kitchen table.

This is the animated short Yung-Han Chang and I directed last summer (2010). We gathered a big group of our friends at San Jose State, and together we made this film happen. It took 6 months to complete. Enjoy!

Isometric

Final for Spring 2011 Vis Dev class. Isometric design of a small farm that is no longer in business. An environment I created for the story Flying Carpets, by Steven Millhauser.

Lanturn Lemur

For this project I created a lemur that acts as a guide for his master. The setting is Madagascar, and the lemur has a lantern strapped to his head to the light the way during night hikes. The middle piece is a quick color study of the environment. I painted it after I realized the night scene didn't quite look like Madagascar.

Sir Gawain and the Green Night Story Moments and Isometric

The top piece captures the moment when Sir Gawain is going to be seduced by his host's wife. In the second painting, Sir Gawain is contemplating how he will kill the Green Night. Next to the gun is a broach that his seductress gave him for protection against the Green Night. I set these scenes in a basement under a speak-easy that was turned into a private meeting room.

Cinequest Trailer BGs

Backgrounds done in UPA and cinematic style for the Cinequest Film Festival 2011 commercial. Storyboard layouts by: Michael Fong. Our vis dev/ background team included Wilbur Liang, Christine Nguyen, and me, with Priscilla Wong as our unofficial lead. I learned a lot while painting these backgrounds, making this winter break a very productive and fulfilling few weeks.
